Volunteer

It takes a lot to make the Tour de Lyme a success.  Below is a  list of projects for volunteers.   Please register using the link at the top of the page.  Select one or two tasks, tell us when you are available and select a size for your free tee shirt.  When you pick up your tee shirt you will also receive a wristband for a free lunch at one of the many delicious food trucks. On the day of the event please be sure to allow time to join the fun with all the riders and volunteers at the picnic.

Volunteer activities:

Parking – Sunday from 6:15 am until 2:00pm we need a team of volunteers to direct arriving vehicles at Ashlawn Farm to park in designated rows for efficient use of the space. 2 shifts – 6:30 – 10:00am. 10:00am- 2:00pm

Rider Check-In – Sunday morning from 6:30am to 11:00am we need several people to check preregistered riders in against prepared lists and accept on-site registrations. Registration opens at 7:30 am so it is imperative volunteers are on hand and ready to go.  Time requirement: 4 hours.

Rest StopsSunday morning from 8:30 am until 12:00 noon to help cheer on the riders, give them a drink or an energy snack and make sure they have what they need to complete the ride. There will be three or four sites. Time requirement: 4 hours. Also, we will need volunteers at a few potentially confusing road intersections or turns in the mountain biking routes to point riders in the right direction. Time requirement: 3-4 hours.

The Picnic – Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm to help the riders enjoy the picnic. It is self-serve from Food Trucks but we will need to make sure everything is provided and the facilities are kept neat. We will have refuse containers and recycling bins that will need emptying.  Water jugs to be filled and other tasks.

Take DownSunday afternoon after event.  Part of the success of the event, when it is all over, is making sure everything is back the way it was before we started. Starting at 2:00 pm, Sunday, we need to collapse and stack tables and chairs under the tent and take down banners and signs. Time requirement: +/- 2 hours.

Each volunteer, will receive a special Tour de Lyme Volunteer t-shirt to wear on the day of the event, a delicious free lunch and our deepest gratitude.
